Well.. here we go!

Here it is everyone my first blog post.  I’m sure it’ll be kind of an amateur looking post for those of you used to reading these, but it’s mine regardless.

So a little introduction for those of you who don’t know me, which I’m pretty certain is everyone who reads this.  I’m 35 years old, I have an 11 year old son, and a 13 year old daughter.  I’m a Yooper, raised on the Lake Superior shore, and I transplanted down here about 10 years ago.

I’m back taking classes to finally get my degree for two reasons, my position requires it, and it’s about time I did it.  It would be hard to explain how important college is to my kids, if I didn’t have a degree myself.

On that note, I think I’ve reached the end of my first post.  I’m sure I’ll be posting quite a bit more on here over the next few weeks as part of this class.  I’m looking forward to learning some new technology, and some new concepts as well.

So, a little about me eh?  Born and raised in a little U.P. town on the east end of Lake Superior, I moved down to the Lansing area about 10 years ago to work in Call Center Workforce Management.  It's fairly specialized work, and because of that, my job level has outpaced my education, so it's time to balance that back out.  Would you like to know more?  Just ask.

  1. Hello Brian. I guess your transplant from the U.P. and “under the bridge” into Troll territory has not found you eaten up yet! Watch out, too much longer here and you’ll have to identify yourself as one of us zombie trolls too! I’m sure you miss that beautiful lake Superior Shore, the UP is the most beautiful place. I took my scout troop up to Manistique a few years back and we hiked the Pictured Rocks, around Grand Island and hiked up Mount Arvon. Very memorable trip for my scouts and I. I also took a nice bear with a bow from south of Baraga. In my career I never really spent time in the UP until the last 10 years where I got up there on business trips many times. I have made many friends and what classy people Yoopers are! They always travel down and bring me smoked fish and those great Yooper bars.
I also began taking college, partly to be a good example for my 3 sons. I felt kinda phony telling them to do great on their studies and academics … and “get good grades” … while I was prone in front of the TV.
I am looking forward to learning Economics with you …
